3. What are Incoterms?

Incoterms (International Commercial Terms) define the responsibilities, costs, and risks involved in the shipping of goods in international trade. The main Incoterms used on Textilian for used machinery are:

  • Exworks (EXW): The seller makes the goods available at their premises. Loading onto a truck is usually not included but can be discussed.
  • LOC / LOT: Loaded on Container / Loaded on Truck (not official Incoterms). The seller handles dismantling and loading the container or truck provided by the buyer.
  • FCA (Free Carrier): The seller loads and delivers the machine to a specified location within the same country.
  • FOB (Free on Board): The seller delivers the machine to the nearest major seaport, clears it for export, and loads it on the ship.
  • CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight): The seller handles shipping, insurance, and freight to the destination port.
  • DAP (Delivered at Place): The seller delivers the machine to the agreed location but does not handle import clearance or unloading.

If you are unsure which Incoterm to use, you may leave it as “----”.
